The Lake County Hazardous Materials/ WMD Team is made up of members from various fire departments throughout the county. Monthly drills are conducted at various locations in the county including large commercial and manufacturing businesses. The Lake County team is one of only three agencies in the State of Ohio that has achieved Level One Haz-Mat response capability rating.
The Lake County Technical Rescue Task Force is designed to regionalize and coordinate specialized rescue response throughout the county. Due to the low frequency and complexity of these incidents quarterly training for the task force is conducted as well as departmental monthly training specific to that departments speciality. Some examples of this training includes: swift water rescue, rope rescue, structural collapse, trench rescue, confined space, and ice rescue.
